THE INTERTWINE ALLIANCE HEALTH & NATURE FORUM 2019
Creating Healthy Communities: The Connection Between Nature and Health Equity
Health equity, the creation of accessible pathways to health resources and benefits for everyone in the community, is a growing focus of attention in health care. Factors that influence one’s wellbeing, such as economic status, jobs, transportation, housing and the neighborhood you live in, are now seen and understood as critical determinants of health. At this year's Health & Nature Forum, we'll consider the role nature plays in community health and how to advocate for it.
The event will include speakers, a moderated panel, and roundtable discussions.
Presenters include:
Juan Carlos Ocaña-Chíu, Business Service Manager, Metro Parks & Nature Department
Zeenia Junkeer, Executive Director, Oregon Health Equity Alliance
Rujuta Gaonkar, Community Benefits, Kaiser Permanente
Dr. Minot Cleveland, medical director of employee health, Legacy Health
Duncan Hwang, Associate Director, APANO.
Join these and other community health and conservation leaders for an in-depth exploration of a range of health equity-related issues.
The event is free, and the space is wheelchair accessible.
A big thank you to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Kaiser Permanente for their contributions supporting this event.
An important note about parking on the South Waterfront: Parking around the David Evans & Associates building is limited and a bit pricey. It's worse right now because of construction in the area. We encourage you to walk, bike or take public transit to the forum. For directions and more info about parking, please visit: www.theintertwine.org/directions-parking.
