RxPlay is a program that leverages the connection between patient and clinician, proactively utilizing nature, physical activity and play as key components in creating positive physical, mental and spiritual health outcomes for all ages and communities in our region.
Prescription play programs are proliferating around the country, as more and more health care communities view connection to parks and natural areas as a cost-effective primary care solution to dealing with a range of physical and mental health ailments. RxPlay provides a new set of options for clinicians to use in addressing the challenges brought on by a range of negative social and environmental factors.
RxPlay is an opportunity for nature-focused organizations to reframe programming to intentionally highlight and leverage the health benefits of their efforts.

RxPlay is currently on hold due to the Covid pandemic -- but we'll be back as soon as possible.
Expected outcomes
We are expanding RxPlay beyond its initial scope to include a broader range of partners across the region and to address a wider range of health outcomes for all ages.
The expanded program will:
- expand the audience served to all ages and multi-generational opportunities
- offer programs that can impact a broader range of health outcomes
- expand the number of participating partners and key stakeholders to reach more participants
- create a centralized infrastructure that will include staffing, a sortable database of nature-focused opportunities, a protocol of trainings for all stakeholders, and various communications platforms and vehicles
- include a sustainable business plan with funding commitments from various key stakeholders for ongoing program support
