The Intertwine Alliance is committed to the health, expansion and equitable distribution of tree canopy throughout the Portland-Vancouver region.
Regional Urban Forestry Leaders Group
In October 2025, we launched The Intertwine Alliance Regional Urban Forestry Leaders group. With 100+ public, private and nonprofit urban & community forestry professionals and advocates, the purpose is to improve communication and collaboration, develop best practices and shared resources, and advocate for forward-thinking local and state tree policy to accelerate outcomes at scale. The group will convene quarterly for the long haul.
Notes from our October 2025 launch meeting
The next meeting is Wed, April 15, from 11:30 am. to 1 p.m. online. Please email Director Tara Wilkinson if you would like to join the group.
Connecting Canopies
The Intertwine Alliance is a lead partner, along with The Nature Conservancy and The Blueprint Foundation in Connecting Canopies. The Intertwine Alliance's focus in the partnership is on policy. Resources the collaborative has created include:
- Portland-Vancouver Regional Urban Tree Policy & Programs Report (2024)
Tree Mapping Equity Tool (2025)
Tree for All
We also serve on the steering committee of Tree for All in Washington County.
Youth workshops
In summer 2025, we launched Leaders Engaged in Arboreal Futures—aka LEAF—a youth development workshop. The program is funded by the USDA Forest Service. We will deliver a second year of programming in summer 2026, and then explore transferring the program to a local nonprofit for continuation.
