Learn to lead small volunteer groups during 4 or more habitat enhancement events in the watershed in 2020! Get hands on leadership experience while giving back to your community.

Perks of being a Creek Crew Leader

-Hands-on applied ecology and habitat enhancement skills

-A fun leadership opportunity

-Make friends and professional connections from different backgrounds

-Gain familiarity with Pacific Northwest species

-Reference for applications to college, jobs, or scholarships

-Get a sweet Johnson Creek Beanie!

Our Creek Crew Leaders are a HUGE piece of our habitat enhancement work at Johnson Creek! We are able to work with thousands of volunteers in 30 – 40 events each year because of the community support of volunteers like you to lead habitat enhancement events! Creek Crew leaders help guide small groups of about 10 volunteers in our native plantings, invasive species and trash removal events throughout the year.

Creek Crew Leaders are also a crucial element of our 2 largest events:

  1. Watershed Wide Event- (March 7, 2020)

-A 10-site habitat enhancement effort from the upper watershed to the mouth of the creek, with 400+ volunteers and a lunch party

2. Johnson Creek Clean-Up (August 22, 2020)

-Our 200+ volunteer in-stream litter removal event complete with silly awards for weirdest trash found and BBQ

Requirements for Creek Crew Leaders

-You are over 18 – OR – you are under 18 but paired with a parent or guardian as a Creek Crew team

-Sign up for 4 events in 2020 (esp. Watershed Wide and/or Johnson Creek Clean-Up!)

-Fill out a PP&R code of conduct, volunteer application, and background check

A note about background checks for Creek Crew Leaders:

We work on PP&R sites in much of our habitat enhancement. To lead volunteers on PP&R sites, they do require background checks. We will get the forms to Creek Crew applicants via email. If you do not feel comfortable going through a background check but still want to volunteer, contact courtney@jcwc.org and we can discuss your options!
