Develop and strengthen relationships with the business community, cross-sector partners, and philanthropy.
1. Create and launch a business reengagement strategy.

The purpose is to bring back a regional business community presence more meaningfully into coalition membership and activities. We will identify the mutual benefit, work to engage businesses in current coalition activities, and create new networking and engagement opportunities as needed. The end goal is that the business community’s perspectives, expertise and resources will be woven back into the fabric of the coalition. They will be among the partners at the ready to champion regional investments in parks, trails and nature.
Goals include:
- Bring in at least 10 new businesses, geographically distributed throughout the region, engaged in various aspects of Intertwine campaigns and programs
Bring on at least two new board members representing the business community.
2. Strengthen relationships with cross-sector partners.
Currently, our coalition is made up mostly of entities from the parks and environmental sectors whose missions are to protect the natural resources and nature of the region. The Intertwine Alliance recognizes that the urban ecosystem is an interwoven fabric of environment, transportation, housing, and many other sectors. A healthy city requires all sectors to align with each other’s roles in preparation for the uncertainties of climate change and for equitable and resilient futures for all. The Alliance’s convening role needs to continue expanding beyond parks and trails, into transportation and housing disciplines, to ensure that all sectors work together.
Goal:
- Engage with at least five new agencies representing the transportation and housing sectors, geographically distributed throughout the region. The purpose is for their voices and priorities to more directly shape coalition programs, convenings and priorities.
3. Update or build new relationships with private foundations, government agencies and other potential funders.
A couple of major long-term funding streams for coalition activities have wound down in recent years, creating the need for new sustainable sources of funding.
Goal:
- Secure $60,000 new multi-year funding by July 2024.
