Nov. 2018
Dear partners and friends,
I’m humbled and honored to have stepped into the role of executive director of The Intertwine Alliance in late October — just in time for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season! Before our attentions turn toward the diverse traditions this time of year holds for each of us and our communities, I’d love to share why I’m so excited about the opportunity to lead this coalition.
I’m excited to leverage the powerful force of coalition-building to create access to parks, trails and natural areas for all people in our region. Preserving and nurturing these spaces for future generations is what drives me, both personally and professionally. Mobilizing our coalition toward the vision of healthy, resilient communities inspires me.
I’m excited to work with the partners of the Alliance, solidifying many long-standing and strong relationships while broadening who is part of this work and why. Aligning staff, board and partners to set clear goals and accomplish them together will be my highest priority this next six months.
Looking back at the past couple of years, our staff sees two big things to celebrate. The first is the building of partners’ capacity through the Intertwine Alliance Equity & Inclusion Cohorts. This critical work will continue in 2019 with another round of cohorts. The second is the robust networking and learning from each other of Intertwine Alliance gatherings, from the 2017 Fall Summit and Force of Nature Awards to the Funders Roundtables.
As we think about the future, we’re excited for The Intertwine Alliance to become an even stronger resource for current and future partners. Board and staff are committed to refocusing on how our coalition will generate investment in our region’s parks, trails and natural areas, in addition to continuing some of the ongoing valuable efforts.
To this end, staff and board will embark on a strategic planning process in early 2019. The surveys that many of you filled out this summer will continue to shape our thinking; thank you so much for the feedback.
I hope to cross paths with many of you in the coming weeks and months. Thank you so much for your warm welcome.
All the best,
Warren Jimenez
