Habitat Restoration At Ridgefield NWR

Last summer, thanks to the hard work of over 95 individual volunteers, we pulled close to 24,000 ricefield bulrush (schoenoplectus mucronatus) plants in our efforts to eradicate this Class A (Washington State) invasive species. It is back! If you are interested in a great opportunity to learn wetland plants, meet like-minded folks, experience ecological restoration first hand, and have fun outdoors this summer, we need you.

We will meet every Wednesday at 9 am in the River 'S' Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge through the middle of September. Wear long pants, rubber boots if you have them, and bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. We provide the tools (and some boots to borrow if necessary), snacks, and water. We end our work parties around 12:30 pm. Bring your friends and family.
