Join Johnson Creek Watershed Council, NW Family Daycation and US Fish and Wildlife for a family-friendly, fun filled day of Science in the Park!. This year you will learn about the salmon life cycle, take home a native plant, enjoy nature-themed games and learn about safe fishing practices!
What: Science in the Park! Activities include a salmon obstacle course, native seed planting and pot decorating, casting clinic, fish ID, knot tying and nature-themed games.
When: Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
Where: Kellogg Creek Park (parking and access instructions emailed after registration)
How to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine, so dress for weather: rain coat, warm layers, sun hat, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack.
Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
Children are welcome at this event! This event is perfect for young children (pre-k to k) to explore the plants and animals that live in our watershed and demonstrate how anyone can be a steward of our local watershed.
Accessibility: This event may require sitting or standing for up to 3 hours. Feel free to bring a blanket or folding chairs to sit in the park. Portable restrooms are available.
