Here at the Johnson Creek Watershed Council we’re known for our community science programs, but have you ever wondered what we do with the data our volunteers collect?
On Wednesday, March 9th, Dr. Tom Virzi of Conservation InSight will give a talk on JCWC’s prairie nesting bird community science surveys. The prairie nesting bird project was launched in 2019 to monitor breeding grassland birds in Powell Butte Nature Park. Dr. Virzi will present data collected during the first three years of surveys and discuss how these data helped influence decisions regarding the construction project on Reservoir 1 at Powell Butte. He will also show how the community science data is used in conjunction with demographic data on Savannah Sparrows collected by Conservation InSight to further inform management decisions at the Park.
When: Wednesday, March 9th at 5:30 pm
Where: virtual webinar on Zoom
