Please join us for an update on the Metro Parks and Nature Levy and to celebrate a big milestone of regional investment in nature for the last 30 years: 20,000 acres of parks, trails and natural areas protected across the greater Portland region for water quality, habitat and future generations.
Pizza, Parks & Progress is a chance to join Metro Councilors, community partners and parks & nature supporters for pizza, conversation and celebration of what we’ve accomplished together – and to look ahead to what’s next.
In the casual setting of the Lucky Labrador Beer Hall in Northwest Portland, we'll dig into information about recent levy investments, share stories about the people behind the work, and provide an opportunity for you to share your priorities for future levy investments.
Pizza is on us. Bring your love of parks and natural areas.
-4:00 p.m. Pizza service begins, along with social time, themed table conversations, and displays highlighting levy investments and successes.
-5:15 p.m. Welcome remarks, featuring Metro Councilor Miles Palacios and Metro staff with a brief levy progress report and reflections on the importance of investing in our public lands.
-6:00 p.m. onward: Continue mingling, eating, and sharing your priorities at feedback stations focused on the future of parks and nature funding.
Part of an ongoing conversation
Pizza, Parks & Progress is the second in a series of gatherings about the future of parks and nature in our region. The conversation began in June with the Parks & Nature Lab and will continue in early November with Parks & Nature Lab 2.0.
At the first Parks & Nature Lab, participants shared their priorities for our region’s future and explored how they connect to Metro’s short-, medium- and long-range planning. At Parks & Nature Lab 2.0, we’ll focus specifically on the framework for a potential 2027 Parks & Nature Levy, with opportunities to weigh in on program priorities, tradeoffs and investment options.
Each gathering is designed to stand on its own, so we encourage you to join us whenever you can. At the same time, the conversations build on one another. Participating across the series offers the fullest opportunity to learn, stay connected and make your voice heard as the work evolves.
