Come join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council and our friends at Guero Bird Club and Native Plant Society in this region-wide event to rid our natural landscapes of the pesky invasive species English ivy.

The event will take place at Wilkes Creek Natural Area and focus on removing English ivy to improve this important natural area and then go on a bird walk up to the headwaters of Wilkes Creek (binoculars provided!)

You will help create wildlife habitat, have a longest ivy vine pulled contest, look at birds through magnified lenses! AND learn about the stumptown scud!

Wilkes Creek is one of the only remaining surface creeks that still flows into the Columbia Slough, making it a critical freshwater source in the watershed. Work being done at this event will help protect the existing tree canopy and open up areas for new native plant installation for the betterment of water quality and wildlife.

Meeting Location: Wilkes Park 3655 NE 154th Ave, Portland, OR 97230. Parking is available on the street and restrooms are available on site.

Tri-Met: Take the #21 bus line to NE 154th and Sandy.  Walk ¼ mile south on NE 154th and Wilkes Park will be on your right.

Accessibility:  This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces.  All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided, but this is a rain or shine event, so please wear closed toed shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.
