Cascadia Wild's

Wolverine Tracking Project

Interested in the animals that live on Mt Hood?  Love to snowshoe?  Want to learn to read the landscape and the footprints left behind in the snow?

Cascadia Wild is seeking volunteers to learn animal tracking skills and help survey for rare carnivores on Mt Hood. We are searching for evidence of wolverine and wolves, studying the distribution of rare montane red fox, and documenting other resident carnivores.

Volunteers attend a two-part training, then help out on as many surveys as they like. Survey trips are lead by two experienced volunteer trip leaders and take place almost every weekend mid December through March.

There are 5 sets of training dates (choose one). Details on the classroom sessions are below, and there is also a field session at Oxbow Park. The training provides a thorough introduction to animal tracking, as well as information about the survey process.

Season cost: $65. This fee helps us run the project. Thank you for your support!

This project is a partnership between Cascadia Wild and the Mt Hood National Forest.
