6:00 pm – 7:30 pm Presentation by Randy Sharp, landscape architect
Randy will present a brief history of green roofs in Western Canada and talk about some of his award-winning projects. He will also discuss the Cascadia bio-region, and ways to strengthen our north-south connections by sharing our collective knowledge.
Randy holds a BLA from the Univ. of OR, and since 1980, he has focused on ecological-based site development that blends landscape and architecture. Mr. Sharp is a guest lecturer in the City Program at SFU, the Centre for Architectural Ecology at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), and for Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Randy is also a Green Roof Professional and has designed over 100 green roofs, living walls and vertical landscapes for a wide range of building types. As a part of climate change research at BCIT, Randy and his colleagues are looking south to the Willamette Valley and Puget Basin to source hardy nursery plants and local varieties of native plant species to adopt for Vancouver BC green roofs.
This event is free and open to all. If you plan to join us, please send an email to admin@greenroofthinktank.org so that we can get an idea of how many people may attend.
