Columbia Springs 2018 Volunteer Training!

Columbia Springs provides opportunities to explore nature with 100 acres of forest, streams, wetlands, lakes, and over two miles of maintained hiking trails. Each year thousands of K-12 students attend our fieldtrips designed to inspire stewardship. Volunteers give thousands of hours each year to help us maintain this natural area and provide environmental education to youth. If you are looking for experience as an environmental educator or to become more active in your community, consider becoming a Volunteer with Columbia Springs!

Columbia Springs provides two training series – both are free and open to the general public! All trainings are hosted on Saturday mornings on-site at Columbia Springs. In general, Volunteer Leads receive a basic orientation so that they can participate in various volunteer programs and events, such as Stewardship Saturdays. Participating in the Volunteer Lead training only requires participants to commit to two days of training (five hours total). Our Volunteer Docent training series builds off of the two-day training with an additional six courses that covers the flora, fauna, and ecology of Columbia Springs. Volunteer Docents receive special training so that they can lead interpretive guides, give tours of the site, and engage the general public. This series is excellent for people interested in developing their skills as interpretive naturalists, guides, and environmental educators.
