Bring your bike and your friends for a tour of Portland’s levee system! The Multnomah County Drainage Districts and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council will lead this 15-mile trip on easy terrain. Learn about functionality and history of Portland’s levee system which protects people and properties from flooding and the work being done to ensure that the levee system meets modern standards for public safety.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Levee Ready Columbia, a collaboration of government, business, and neighborhood organizations working together to evaluate the condition of our local levee network and to ensure valuable regional resources are protected in the future. Riders will explore how the levees are managed for the balance of safety, recreation, and restoration.
