As environmental and climate action policy weakens on a federal level, it becomes more important than ever to stay strong at home and to take action on a local level. This starts in our own backyards!
Sparrowhawk Native Plants partners with community organizations to provide habitat-friendly and climate-resilient native plants to local gardeners, while giving back tens of thousands of dollars to conservation efforts. This spring, we’re teaming up with Friends of Baltimore Woods, Portland Fruit Tree Project, Feed ‘Em Freedom, Wisdom of the Elders, Friends of Tualatin Hills Nature Park and Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District. By our powers combined, over 40,000 native plants will take root and about $20,000 will go back to these inspiring community partners. Order plants starting on Sunday, March 2nd at 9am for April or May pick-up!
How it Works:
1) Order Plants Online between March 2 - 30 (or all until pop-up locations fill up):
- Browse profiles of 115+ native plant species from the comfort of your couch. Filter by sun, moisture, and more to find the right plant for the right place in your yard. Some species may sell out quickly, so we recommend getting your order in early!
- At checkout, select your pick-up location, date and time.
2) Pick-up Pre-ordered Plants in April or May: We'll look forward to seeing you at one of the four pop-up locations this spring. These pop-ups are large, outdoor, parking-lot style events;
- Fri, April 18 - Sat, April 19 - in St Johns (Farmers Market parking lot, 8260 N Central St), in partnership with and benefiting Friends of Baltimore Woods
- Fri, April 25 - Sat, April 26 - in East Portland (Parkrose Community Church, 12505 NE Halsey St), in partnership with Portland Fruit Tree Project and Feed ‘Em Freedom
- Fri, May 2 - Sat, May 3 - in SE Portland (Brentwood Darlington Community Center, 7211 SE 62nd Ave), in partnership with Wisdom of the Elders
- Fri, May 9 - Sat, May 10 - in Beaverton (Tualatin Hills Nature Park, 15655 SW Millikan Way), in partnership with Friends of Tualatin Hills Nature Park and Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District
3) Plants for the Planet - Proceeds for the Community: Every season, Sparrowhawk gives back up to $20,000 to the community partners that host each event. So, sink your hands in the dirt and feel good! Your new native plants will support birds, bees, and butterflies in your neighborhood, while proceeds support an inspiring line-up of community partners.
