Come plant "MAGIC STICKS" to restore habitat for salmon and wildlife! Don't know what those are? come find out!
About this Event
"Magic sticks," also known as "live stakes" are sticks cut from wetland shrubs like willow, dogwood, ninebark, etc. When you insert them in the ground (in the right direction) the nodes that would have otherwise made leaves, make roots instead, starting a new shrub, just like magic!
We will be installing native bareroot shrubs and "magic sticks" to restore floodplain habitat for wildlife and shade Beaver Creek for cold water loving salmon!
Please bring your own gloves and shovels and pruners, if you are able. If you don't have any, we have some you can use. Due to COVID, please also bring your own snacks and warm beverages. Dress in layers and boots if you have them and be prepared for wet, marshy, rainy conditions. This event is family friendly.
In partnership with the Sandy River Watershed Council, SOLVE, and the City of Troutdale.
