~EVENT IS FULL~
We're very excited to be making the second installment of the NE Ainsworth Habitat Corridor, a collaboration between PBOT, BES, Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Wisdom of the Elders, and Portland Audubon Society. This project is part of the Neighborhood to River (N2R) program that connects city stormwater infrastructure to water quality in rivers and streams. The ultimate goal of this project is to create a habitat corridor that runs from Alberta Park all the way to Fernhill Park!
The NE Ainsworth Habitat corridor will create native wildlife habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife, as well as mitigate stormwater runoff and improve water quality in the Columbia Slough. Habitat corridors in urban areas are important for aiding migration between otherwise isolated wildlife populations, promoting genetic diversity and resilience. We will be planting native shrubs, trees, grasses, and rushes to create sources of food and shelter for migrating and resident insects and birds.
