Did you know that one tree can be vitally connected to hundreds of others and that they’ll send nutrients back and forth in a what-goes-around-comes-around cycle? Or that in some areas of Alaska 75% of the nitrogen found in trees comes from salmon? These facts pose a host of questions – and fungi are the answer. Explore these amazing beings with instructor Gradey Proctor. The class starts with a slide show in the Manor House where you'll learn some basic mushroom anatomy, and a few of the major genera in our region. Then you'll stroll through the Garden to see what’s up and fruiting, evidence of the vast interconnections beneath our feet. Come away with some useful identification tips, harvesting and cooking advice, and much more. Be prepared to walk the trails rain or shine. Meet at the Manor House.
