The first year of the The Intertwine Alliance Equity & Inclusion Cohorts was a great success, but we also have learned a great deal and want to build upon those lessons. First of all, we know that this work is not linear but rather an iterative process that builds on both personal and organizational experiences.
Therefore, if your organization has already participated, it would be good to figure out whether you would like continued support in the same areas or are ready to take on new areas of growth.
If you are new to the program, the expression of interest form will give us a starting place to assess which cohort will best meet your needs.
In the coming year, we will offer three cohorts instead of four. The first two will focus on individual trainings and peer learning, in order to raise awareness and help you become change agents in your organizations. The third cohort will be for organizations that have DEI goals and strategies in place and are working toward organizational-level assessment and implementation.
More information about each cohort will be provided once we better understand the needs of those interested.
To begin, please identify your current needs for learning and development in by filling out this expression of interest. We will do our best to make available the resources and ongoing peer support you need to advance your equity journey.
--Expressions of interest due March 16, 2018
-- Cohorts formed by late April
--Cohorts matched with programs and providers by mid-May
--Official commitment to program due by end of May
--Cohorts likely start programs in late May or early June (ending approximately one year from start date)
Year One report
After hosting and participating in a few different equity trainings, including an anti-racism training and organizational assessment cohort, The Intertwine Alliance took a step back and thought about how we can more effectively support our partners in this area. After some strategic planning with our staff, board and key thought partners, we developed the Equity & Inclusion Cohorts. 2017 was the first year we implemented the program, and we are continuing to evolve the program to best serve and support our partners and the region.
In this first year, we:
- Collected expression of interest forms from organizations interested in participating. These EOIs collected information on organizational needs and current understanding around DEI, leadership commitment, and goals in participating.
Put out an RFP and collected proposals from training providers that had them report what types of training (individual consciousness raising, organizational assessment, etc), they were able to provide.
Grouped organizations based on information collected in the EOIs into four cohorts.
Convened each cohort and supported them in selecting the provider that would best meet their DEI goals. Thank you to DRC Learning Solutions and the Nonprofit Association of Oregon for serving as year one providers; your wisdom and guidance made all the difference!
Created a budget for each cohort and allocated grant funds to each.
