Join The Nature Conservancy in Oregon at a volunteer work party at our Sandy River gorge preserve.
Just 20 miles east of Portland, the Sandy River Gorge encompasses eight miles of untamed river with upland terraces and canyons that provide excellent habitat for native fish and wildlife including salmon, steelhead, osprey and river otter. The gorge also holds some of the best remaining low elevation old-growth forests in Western Oregon. Conservancy volunteers have been managing and maintaining a unique, native-dominated meadow complex set upon an ancient river bench within the Sandy Gorge.
During this event we will remove invasive plants that threaten this special meadow complex. This work party involves a 2.5 mile round trip strenuous hike with 600 feet of elevation gain/loss.
