Let’s improve Oregon oak habitat in Oregon by starting at Powell Butte Nature Park on December 2nd. We'll be planting native trees and shrubs, on the southeast corner of Powell Butte! Healthy oak habitat is rare within the City of Portland, and imperiled within the Willamette Valley as a whole, due to development and other pressures. Native plants in general support a diversity of insects and wildlife, and provide cleaner air and water for all inhabitants of our city. Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, rain gear and sunhat. Instruction, tools, gloves, water and coffee/tea provided. Children welcome, and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
