This workshop provides a quick overview of mason bees and their most common pest, the Krombein mite (also known as the pollen mite). Attendees are encouraged to bring their nesting devices to extract the cocoons and clean them with a dry sand process. Mason bee nesting trays used at Jackson Bottom Wetlands will also be available so attendees can get a hands on experience in this important aspect of mason bee caretaking. Attendees will take home their own mason bee cocoons.
